FAQ
Short-term lending in the UK involves providing small loans, typically ranging from £100 to £1,000, to help people cover unexpected expenses until their next payday. A common example is a £500 loan, designed to bridge financial gaps without requiring a long-term commitment. Companies like Wage Day Advance offered these payday loans, often with easy application processes and quick payouts. However, short-term lending can be costly due to high interest rates and fees, leading borrowers to repay significantly more than the original amount. Regulatory changes in recent years aimed to protect borrowers by capping fees and ensuring fairer lending practices.
