Vacancy: Community Halls Information & Communications Officer

Salary: £20,092 to £22,571 per annum (pro rata), 2 days (15 hours) per week, 1 year contract starting September 2022

Action with Communities in Rural Kent (Rural Kent) is a registered charity, and part of the Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) network which works to ensure that rural communities are not disadvantaged because of their geographical location. Rural Kent’s work includes providing an information and support service to village and community halls, supporting parish councils and community groups to provide affordable housing, advising social enterprises, overcoming isolation in rural communities and rural policy.

Thriving village and community halls provide inclusive, accessible community spaces which are vital for sustainable communities, particularly in rural areas. They host a wide range of leisure and wellbeing activities, as well as educational, health and other public services.

Rural Kent’s Community Halls Service supports the trustees and committees managing these community spaces, providing information, guidance, training and networking opportunities for halls.

We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and flexible person to support our Community Halls Adviser to further develop the service, following a successful application for Lottery funding. You will be working to improve the accessibility and usability of information for trustees, encourage hall to hall networking, support training events and raise awareness of the role of community halls and the community halls service. Knowledge of running community halls safely and legally is highly desirable but not essential as training is available for the right candidate.

For an application pack, please visit www.ruralkent.org.uk/news. For more information or to arrange an informal chat, email Angela Milligan, Community Halls Adviser angela.milligan@ruralkent.org.uk

Closing date for applications is Friday 5th August 2022 (5pm).

Interviews will take place on Wednesday 17th August 2022.
